Khan El Franj Sidon
Khan El Franj Sidon
Emir Fakhreddine II, in the 17th century, envisioned and constructed Khan El Franj, which became the bustling hub of commercial activities in Saida. This historic building welcomed merchants from Europe and various Lebanese regions, providing them with lodging and a vibrant trading space. Over the years, the khan underwent several transformations, serving as a French consulate, an orphanage, and an educational institution.
For tourists and history enthusiasts alike, Khan El Franj offers a glimpse into the past, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in its nostalgic ambiance. The central courtyard, adorned with a cross-vaulted Ottoman portico, beckons exploration, leading guests to its prestigious grand hall. This enchanting scenery is a testament to the building's enduring legacy and its significance as a cherished part of Saida's history.
