The arches of Khan El Franj are symbolic of the cultural exchanges that have shaped Lebanon's history. The arches, known as cross-vaults, are a characteristic feature of this architectural style and serve both functional and aesthetic purposes.
This architectural ingenuity allowed for larger open spaces within the khan, creating a sense of grandeur and openness. The impressive cross-vaulted design adds a sense of drama and majesty to the interior, evoking a feeling of timelessness and architectural prowess.
